You must be wondering, what is Akshar Gyan? However everything is useless without "Akshar" (Alphabet) and "Gyan" (Knowledge). Fifteen years have elapsed since this yagna was started. The word 'yagna' has been used so that all the children in India get education.

It cannot be described as to Why, When and How we got to meet these children. But when we met, a thought came in mind that due to utter poverty and illiteracy in India, we see a lot of inconvenience and dirt. At that time we thought that we cannot improve the entire nation but we can start from a small area and slowly spread education from one area to another.

We saw these children in a locality like Walkeshwar and felt surprised that even in such a rich area, entire family of 10 to 12 are camped in a small room of 7" * 7". As and when we went on meeting them, our inspiration and motivation to do this work got stronger and stronger

Our first step was cleanliness. We gathered children and educated them on basic cleanliness and its benefits. We provided these children with everything that they would need except school admission and residential house.

At a later stage we got co-operations from various social workers. We also started getting help from Gujaratis settled in America. We have now reached out to 1013 children through our educational programs.
